This is an introduction to drama. Class time is spent learning the basics of stage terminology and drama performance. Units include: theater safety, improvisation, stage makeup, voice and movement, set construction and monologue performance. This class is for the student who would like to overcome stage fright and get a taste of what theater is all about.
41600B Theatre II--SHS, HBHS
10, 11, 12 - 2nd semester only, 1/2 credit
Perquisite: Theatre I and teacher recommendation
This class is a continuation of Theatre I, but is still manageable for the new drama student. Students will cover units in pantomime, costume design, acting, lighting, structure of a play, theater history, and set design. Students help build sets as well as have the opportunity to audition to work backstage and on stage for productions.
51602A/51602B Theatre III--SHS, HBHS
11, 12- 1 year, 1 credit
Prerequisite: Theatre I & II and teacher recommendation.
This class is for students with a serious interest in theatre. Students polish their talents in performance and technical theater as well as create a portfolio of their accomplishments. Students actively participate in a variety of productions held in the Pat Walker and Studio Theaters. Grading is based upon participation and accomplishment of tasks assigned.
51602C/51602D Theatre IV--SHS, HBHS
12 - 1 year, 1 credit
Prerequisite: Theatre III and teacher recommendation.
This is a continuation of Theatre III. Students continue to work on their portfolio and audition scenes to prepare for college scholarships as well as serving as actual production staff for the Pat Walker and Studio Theatres. Therefore, they assume more individual responsibility for production and participation as performers, technicians, and theater management crews. Grading is based upon participation and accomplishment of duties assigned.
