Marine Corps Junior ROTC

Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) teaches young men and women the kind of self-discipline, self confidence and leadership skills that can help them successfully meet the challenges of adulthood. The student that enrolls in JROTC will learn respect, leadership skills, physical training, and patriotism.

¨You are under no obligation to do military service if you take this course.

¨Marine Recruiters are NOT involved in this course.

¨This program can lead to college scholarships.

¨Students in these courses will form honor guards and drill teams for competition.

¨Each student will receive free uniforms that will be worn one day a week.

¨Physical training and drill every week is a required part of this program.

¨A medical physical exam will be required on a yearly basis.

¨Will  count for Physical Education or elective credit

49582A/49582B Marine JROTC Leadership Education I--SHS

10, 11, 12 - 1 year, 1 credit

A first year MCJROTC course is designed to introduce new cadets to the program. This course will emphasize military drill, physical conditioning, and leadership training, and will develop in cadets the self discipline, self confidence, and leadership skills necessary for continued participation in MCJROTC as upper class cadets. New cadets will be exposed to personal growth and responsibility and establish a foundation of military structure and tradition.

49583C/49583D Marine JROTC Leadership Education II--SHS

11, 12 - 1 year, 1 credit

Prerequisite: Leadership Education I

This course is designed for second-year cadets and emphasizes military history and organization. Leadership training is continued, with cadets beginning to assume command and leadership roles in the unit. In this course students will introduce students to civilian markmanship training and land navigation training with the map and compass. This year also provides additional learning and experiences in personal growth and responsibility, as well as citizenship.

49584A/49584B Marine JROTC Leadership Education III---SHS

11, 12 - 1 year, 1 credit

Prerequisite: Leadership II

Cadets will begin to use their leadership training as they assume positions of increased authority and responsibility within the program. In this year also, detailed instruction on personal finances is presented, as well as other preparation for life beyond high school. Cadets also begin to instruct Leadership I cadets in military drill and to lead physical conditioning activities.
