  1. Win a college scholarship of $1,000 by registering online at www.eCampusTours.com.  This is a free National Scholarship Search that helps students scope out potential scholarships from an extensive database.

  1. The Culinary Institute of America is the world’s leading culinary college.  They have scholarships and admission information at www.ciachef.edu.  

 

  1. The Honors College at the University of Arkansas offers $50,000 Fellowships, (including the Bodenhamer, Boyer, and Sturgis scholarships), Undergraduate Research Opportunities, Study Abroad Scholarships, Honors Housing and Priority Registration.  For more information go to - honorscollege.uark.edu.   1. There are three scholarships from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund the College Scholarship Program, the Community College Transfer Scholarship Program, and the High School Scholarship Program. Applications are available at www.hsf.netDEADLINE:  February 15, 2007.

 

  1. The Chapel of Four Chaplains has several scholarships competitions including:  an Annual Essay Contest, a National Art Contest and an Annual Project lifesaver contest.  Please do online at www.fourchaplains.org    DEADLINE:  January, 2007.

 

 

  1. Boston University offers a Trustee Scholarship.  To enter go online at www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee.   Candidates must have a high school GPA of 3.50 or higher, rank in the top 5% of the class, and have an ACT score of 32 or higher.   DEADLINE:  December 1, 2006.

 

  1. Simmons First National Bank offers student scholarships of $3000 for students enrolled in a postsecondary institution.  For more information go to www.simmonsfirst.com.

 

  1.  Register now for a $1,000 scholarship at www.bankofamerica.com/studentsweeps

 

  1.  The SAE –Society of Automotive Engineers – offers Engineering Scholarships to qualified students.  These corporate sponsored scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $10,000.  For more information or an application, stop by the counseling center or go to www.sae.org/students/scholarships.   DEADLINE:  December 1, 2006

 

  1.  The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund offers scholarships for federal employees and their dependents.  For information go online at www.feea.org.

 

  1.  The Sons of the American Revolution has announced two opportunities for Northwest Arkansas high school students to win national recognition and share in cash awards of over $18,000.  Both are provided through the General Lafayette chapter, Arkansas Society, Sons of the American Revolution, based in Northwest Arkansas.  The Rumbaugh Historical Oration Contest will award an $8.000 scholarship and The Knight Essay Contest will give an $8.000 scholarship.  For applications, stop by the counseling center or go online at tburn@mynewroads.com to request an application.   DEADLINE:  December 1, 2006.

 

  1.  Enter the NO-Addiction 5th Annual Essay Contest & win college scholarships and savings bonds.  High School students need to write a 300 word essay to tell why they have chosen to stay away from drugs and alcohol and what they are personally doing to further prevention and awareness efforts within the school and community.  20 winners will each receive a $500 scholarship.  Guidelines are available online at www.NO-ADdiction.org.  DEADLINE:  December 31, 2006.

 

The Academic Common Market sponsored by SREB allows students in several Southern states to enroll in selected programs at public institutions in other states and pay in-state tuition. For a list of schools in this program go to the SREB website, www.sred.org

 

 

  1. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation offers college scholarships of up to $10,000 a year, over a four-year period.  Applications are available in the counseling center.   In order to be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must satisfy the following requirements:  *have lost a parent to breast cancer, *reside within the service area of an established Komen Affiliate., *plan to attend a state-supported college or university in the state where they permanently reside, *have a GPA of 2.80, *be a U.   1. The THEA Foundation offers the Thea Leopoulous Arts Scholarship program for qualified seniors who are interested in the visual arts (two-dimensional – any medium), and performing arts (acting/dance/voice).  Each year the THEA Foundation has the potential to provide 20 seniors with significant scholarship dollars.  To pick up an application go online at www.theafoundation.org.   DEADLINE:  December 1, 2006.

 

  1.  The CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Registration Guides are available in the counseling office.  The PROFILE must be completed for seniors to apply for financial aid at selected colleges.  The list of colleges that require the PROFILE is available in the counseling center along with applications.  Or, a student may go online at www.collegeboard.com.  REGISTRATION begins on October 1, 2006 and runs through January, 2007. 

 

  1. The Danforth Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis honors the student who embraces high ideals, whose life choices are guided by personal integrity, selflessness, a commitment to community, and a dedication to leadership and academic excellence.  Danforth Scholars may receive full or partial tuition scholarships. If you are interested in securing a nomination, stop by the counseling center, to visit with your counseling.  DEADLINE:  October 15, 2006.

  1. The Coca-Cola Scholarship Foundation recognizes outstanding seniors, and awards 250 merit based scholarship. Fifty awards are for $20,000, payable in equal installments over a four-year period.  The remaining 200 awards are for $4,000, also payable over a four year period.  To apply go online at www.coca-colascholars.org or call Coca Cola at 1-800-306-2653.  DEADLINE:  October 31, 2006.

  1. Peterson’s is one of the nation’s most outstanding companies offering catalogs, viewbooks and other admissions/financial aid material.  They are drawing for a $5,000 award to be given to a senior who fills out the new Peterson’s College Survey Program survey.   Go online at www.petersons.com/studentnetworks.  Use the SHS high school code (042315) and the Password (HGC-CC) to enter this competition.

 

  1.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars sponsor the 2006-2007 VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Contest.  The contest is available to students in 9th-12th grades.   Full contest details can be found at www.vfw.org – click on Community Support, then Awards and Scholarships, then Voice of Democracy.  DEADLINE:  November 1, 2006.

 

  1.  American Indian Scholarships are available to students who are documentable Native American descendants from a federally recognized tribe.  There are three separate programs to consider:

  1.  The Kaplan/NEWSWEEK “MY TURN” essay competition allows students to win up to $5,000 for college.  To enter, a student must submit a 500-1,000 word essay on a topic of the student’s choice, where the student shares his or her opinion, experience or personal feeling.  First prize is $5,000, second prize is $2,000 and eight students will receive $1,000 awards.  For more information call 1-800-KAP-TEST or go online at www.kaptest.com/essay. 29.    The United States Armed Forces offer four-year ROTC Scholarships in the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps ROTC programs, as well as the Service academies. The ROTC Scholarship applications are available in the counseling center.  DEADLINE:  November 1, 2006.

 

30.    Head & Engquist Equipment is seeking highly motivated candidates for a high paying career as heavy equipment operators.  This scholarship program will pay for a 72 week training program including all costs of tuition, room and board, books and supplies, personal expenses and a basic tool set worth $3,000.  This program is sponsored by Oklahoma State University at the Okmulgee, Oklahoma campus.  For more details call the Heavy Equipment & Vehicle Institute office at 918-756-6211 or go online at www.osu-okmulgee.edu.  

 

31.    wiredscholar.com has a complete online College Resource service.  Check it out!

 

32.    Guideposts Magazine offers scholarship money through the Guidepost Young Writers Contest.  Entrants must be high school juniors or seniors.  Entrants must write a first-person story about a memorable or moving experience they have had.  Stores must be the true personal experience of the writer.  Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, with a minimum of 1200 words.  For more information go to www.guideposts.com.  DEADLINE:  November 25, 2006.

 

33.    The University of Arkansas offers online admissions.  The admission fee that normally accompanies the paper application can be submitted later.  Go to www.uark.edu.   DEADLINE for Early Scholarship Notification:  November 15, 2006.

  

34.    The Target All-Around Scholarship recognized well-rounded students who are committed to their communities through volunteer service and education.  Target awards scholarships to high school seniors.  To apply, pick up a brochure at any Target store, or visit www.target.comDEADLINE:  November 1, 2006.

 

35.    Rhodes College offers two important scholarship opportunities:  The Walter D. Bellingrath and the J.R. Hyde Scholarships.   PLUS, they offer 5 Morse scholarships, 15 Cambridge scholarships, 50 University scholarships, 60 Rhodes Awards, 5 Dean’s scholarships and 12 Fine Arts Awards. These scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who exemplify high academic achievement, leadership, character and personal achievement.  Each Bellingrath and Hyde ydeHydescholarship has a four-year value of over $100,000, covering the full cost of tuition, fees, room and board at Rhodes.  Students must have a grade point average of 3.80 and an ACT of 30 or SAT of 1350.  Students wishing to be NOMINATED for these scholarships should stop by the counseling center to pick up a nomination form.  Please complete the nomination form and return to your counselor.  DEADLINE:  November 1, 2006.

 

36.    The Aid Association for Lutherans offers the AAL Scholarships to help you meet the cost of higher education.  An applicant must have AAL Insurance or an AAL annuity in his or her own name at the time of application.  The student must be enrolled or plan to enroll at a participating Lutheran institution on a full or part time basis.  Scholarships usually range from $200-$1,000 per year.  To obtain an application call the AAL Member Credit Union toll-free at 1-800-345-1025.  DEADLINE:  November 20, 2006.

 

37.    The National Presbyterian College Scholarships are offered by the Presbyterian Church to affirm excellence in scholastic ability and leadership; to encourage superior students to attend participating Presbyterian-related colleges; and to assist these colleges in identifying such students.  For more information write to: The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Office of Financial Aid for Studies, 100 Witherspoon Street, Louisville, Kentucky, 40202-1396 or call 1-502-569-5745.  DEADLINE:  December 1, 2006.

 

38. The Toyota Community Scholars program is for high school seniors.  This year the program will award 100 renewable scholarships, valued at $10,000 or $20,000 payable over four years to seniors who enroll at a 4-year college or university in the United States starting in the fall of 2007.  Springdale High School will have TWO nominees for the Toyota program.  To be considered for this great scholarship, stop by the counseling office and fill out an application today.   DEADLINE:  Applications must be turned in before Thanksgiving break.

 

39. Randolph Macon Woman’s College offers Presidential Scholarships to students who have an ACT score of 33 and a GPA range of 3.7-4.00.   If you are interested in attending Randolph Macon and meet this criteria stop by the counseling office for a student referral form.

40.  The Penguin Young Readers Group is sponsoring the We Beat the Street Scholarship Contest beginning in September.  If you would like more information about this scholarship, go to http://us.penguingroup.com/tl

 

41.  The Tylenol Scholarship is available to students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.  There is $50,000 in scholarship money available.  Go to Scholarship.Tylenol.com for all the details.

 

42.   There are Engineering scholarships available for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of student.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.  Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to two questions.  For all the details go to www.aesengineers.com/scholarships

 

43.  The 2007 Horatio Alger Scholarship Application is available online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.   To be eligible, a student must be a full time high school senior planning to enroll in a US college;  plan to earn a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution; have financial need – lower that $50,000 a year in annual income; be involved in community service; have a minimum grade point average of 2.00, and be a US citizen or permanent resident.   For more information, go online today.   DEADLINE:  October 30, 2006.

 

44. The Gates Millennium Scholarship program will select 1000 students to be Gates Millennium Scholars.   The following is a list of criteria for this scholarship:

  • Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander or Hispanic American
  • Be a citizen/ legal permanent resident or national of the United States
  • Have a GPA of 3.3
  • Plan to enroll in an accredited college or university
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through community service, extracurricular or other activities
  • Meet the Federal Pell Grant Eligibility requirements
  • Complete the application forms in the counseling office or go online at www.gmsp.org

 

45. The American Legion, Department of Arkansas, is offering (4) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to eligible students.  Selections are based on American spirit, character, leadership quality, scholastic endeavor, and the basis of need.  Below is a list of qualifications:

·        Must be children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren of American Legionnaires

·        Must be a senior on track for graduation in May

·        Must provide a copy of the student’s transcript

·        Must submit an autobiography in essay format including career goals and why you are qualified for this scholarship.
