Class Attendance |

I. Students and their parents/guardians hold the main responsibility for school attendance and for the following policy. The School Board asks for the cooperation of both the students and parents/guardians in these matters so that the student can receive the best education possible. II. Any student who fails to follow all or any part of the assigned schedule, whether the student is on or off campus, without checking out at the Attendance Office, will be considered truant, and the student will not receive credit for the time truant. Make up will be encouraged for the time of truancy but no credit will be given. III. Any student that is late to class 15 minutes or more is considered truant. IV. Any student that misses 15 minutes or more of a class will be considered absent from that class. V. When students cut class, the following penalties shall be applied: A. First Violation: 1. Conference with the student 2. Notification of parent 3. Assigned five (5) days detention 4. Warning of In-School-Suspension B. Second Violation: 1. Conference with the student 2. Notification of parent 3. Assigned three (3) days of In-School Suspension 4. Warning of Out-of-School Suspension 5. Court Referral C. Third Violation: 1. Conference with the student 2. Notification of parent 3. Suspended from school for three (3) days 4. Warning of expulsion |
