Selective Service Registration
2007-2008 |
|
All young men must register with the Selective Service System within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Registration is requirement to qualify for federal student aid, job training benefits, and most federal employment. If you are applying for federal student aid or job training benefits, you may register up to 120 days before you turn 18 to avoid delays in the processing of applications.
If you do not register, or you do not keep the Selective Service System informed about any changes of address, you could be prosecuted and fined up to $250,000 and/or be put in jail for up to five years.
You may register with the Selective Service System at any U.S. Post Office or in the Counseling Center's Office of the Registrar.
