PLAGIARISM/CHEATING
2007-2008

Plagiarism is defined as quoting, paraphrasing, or summarizing someone else's
words or ideas without giving credit to that person or source.  Plagiarism occurs
when claiming, as one's own, information from printed materials and/or electronic
sources such as the Internet or CD-Roms.  Copying another student's assignments
is considered cheating and will, therefore, be treated as a form of plagiarism.

 Punishment:

A. When a student copies another students work:  both parties will receive zeros.
School administrators will be notified for documentation and  possible disciplinary
action.

B. For compositions, research papers, etc., the following punishment is
suggested:

1st Offense:
A zero on the work and referral to the office with punishment to be
determined by administration based on severity of the infraction.

2nd Offense:
A zero on the work, referral to the office, and ISS
(length to be determined by administration).

3rd Offense:
A zero on the work, referral to the office, and OSS
(length to be determined by administration).
