Pre-AP Literature and Composition 10


Students complete two to four hours of homework each week in the following areas: reading and responding to a variety of literary works; writing in a variety of forms for different audiences and purposes, including several critical analysis essays each quarter; studying a unit of vocabulary words each week; keeping a notebook organized according to genre; maintaining  a portfolio; reviewing grammar, usage, and mechanics in the context of composition; completing at least one major project; completing a summer reading project.
Prerequisite: A rigorous application process that includes meeting standardized test score criteria, soliciting teacher recommendations, and taking a literary reading and writing assignment.
